The WFO issued the following FTM: (NOUS60 PHFO 161040 FTMHWA WSR-88D NOTIFICATION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HONOLULU HI 1240 AM HST TUE MAY 16 2017 THE SOUTH POINT NEXRAD OR COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE NAALEHU NEXRAD WITH THE CALL SIGN PHWA/HWC, WILL BE DOWN FOR ABOUT 10 DAYS FOR A SYSTEM UPGRADE STARTING WEDNESDAY, MAY 17 AND LASTING TO SATURDAY, MAY 27. THE SYSTEM WILL BE TURNED OFF BY 9 AM HST WEDNESDAY, AND RETURNED TO SERVICE BY 5 PM HST SATURDAY AFTERNOON. IF ALL GOES ACCORDING TO PLAN AND THE WEATHER COOPERATES, THE RADAR WILL LIKELY BE UP AND RUNNING BY THIS SATURDAY, MAY 20, BUT THERE WILL BE A TESTING PERIOD LASTING TO THE 27TH. TECHNICIANS WILL BE SWAPPING OUT PIECES OF HARDWARE, DOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, AND THE LOADING OF A NEW SOFTWARE.
